Member Spotlight: WorkSource Enterprises
WorkSource Enterprises was founded in 1967 on the fundamental beliefs that all people with disabilities deserve the fullest possible life and that gainful employment improves any individual’s self-esteem and overall quality of life. WorkSource serves approximately 350 clients who live in Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson counties. Persons served have intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical impairments, sensory impairments and/or autism. WorkSource provides a variety of programs that help persons with disabilities achieve their dreams through the following programs: Community Placement Services – Approximately 100 area companies hired individuals who were trained by WorkSource. These employees earned more than $1.25 million in taxable wages last year. Production Services – Area business hire WorkSource to assemble and package a variety of products and mail pieces. Customers receive competitive prices and efficient turnaround, PLUS they know they are helping individuals with disabilities! BreadWorks Bakery & Deli – The popular deli and bakery on Preston Avenue (and also at Northridge!) employs more than a dozen individuals with disabilities. Contract Janitorial Services – WorkSource clients provide custodial and housekeeping services to the Federal Executive Institute and the Charlottesville Federal Building. Day Support Services – In addition to the services above, WorkSource provides pre-vocational, educational and recreational services to individuals with severe disabilities.
