Member Spotlight: Rivanna River Basin Commission

The Rivanna River Basin Commission (RRBC) (www.rivannariverbasin.org), an entity of local government, provides guidance for the stewardship and enhancement of the water and natural resources of the Rivanna river basin. RRBC was formed in 2007 as a result of enabling legislation passed by the Virginia General Assembly in 2004.

The fourteen member Commission is composed of elected officials and appointed citizens from Albemarle, Fluvanna and Greene Counties and the City of Charlottesville and district directors from Thomas Jefferson and Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation Districts. RRBC staff, interns, and volunteers support the Commission along with RRBC’s Technical Advisory Committee, which is composed of local government staff, scientists, and policy experts.
