Member Spotlight: Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program
A May 2000 poll of Buford Middle School 7th graders found that 78 percent wanted to go to college. But only 40 percent believed that they would actually attend. The Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program is a unique public-private partnership which exists to address this gap. The Program, founded in 2001, provides guidance and financial support to Charlottesville residents wishing to continue their education after high school. The Program is entirely volunteer-run and has supported over sixty students since its founding. September 22nd will mark the second year that the Charlottesville Community Scholarship Program has celebrated the value of education with a gala.
