About the Academy

The Board Development Academy builds the capacity of our community to effectively meet future challenges by creating an ever-expanding web of trained, committed board members.

Goals of the Academy

• Offer the area's only training that teaches general knowledge about nonprofits and their boards, governance and the board's role in an organization.
• Engage participants in a set of exercises designed to improve specific board skills.
• Provide an extensive collection of board performance tools and a variety of reference materials that participants will use in their future board experiences.
• Build a cadre of informed and engaged citizens well-prepared for the challenge of nonprofit board service.
