Position Description

The Rockfish Valley Foundation Nnatural History Center located at 1368 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford, VA 22958 opened June16, 2012. It is staffed by volunteers who receive several hours training. Docents are needed for 3 hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am until 4 pm. There are two shifts that split this time. The duties include opening and closing, giving a tour of the current exhibit Living off the Land, introducing the visitor to the children's play area, the information center, the Rockfish Valley Foundation and its mission, Spruce Creek Park, the Rockfish River Trails and NELSON SCENIC LOOP. ADMISSION is free and open to the public.

Additional Information

Charles Schulte maintains the docent calendar. There are over 20 docents at this time. We need to double that in order to extend visitor hours to Fridays and provide special hours for school groups. No special knowledge is needed.
