Position Description

The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) is seeking a Director of Donor Relations and Programs. This individual has principal responsibility for overseeing CACF donor relations, needs, and servicing primarily for donor advised, committee advised, and agency endowment funds in the Community Foundation. The Director of Donor Relations and Programs also assists with the delivery of Community Foundation grantmaking programs. Principal duties and responsibilities include:
• Oversee a portfolio of donor advised and committee advised funds
• Create and implement a donor engagement strategy and to educate donors about community needs, programs that address those needs, and priorities, working closely with the Director of Grants and Strategic Initiatives
• Develop, maintain and support relationships with new and existing donors and agencies
• Work with the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration on agency endowment funds
• Oversee several key grantmaking programs
• Respond to and process requests for contributions, grants actions and information, and monitor existing funds
• Work with Foundation colleagues to develop content for CACF events, press releases, newsletters and the website
• Represent the Foundation in the community at grantee events as needed
• Provide back-up support to the Director of Grants and Strategic Initiatives on all matters

Skills Required

The ideal candidate will possess:
• A Bachelor’s and preferably a Master’s degree or equivalent professional degree
• Several years of experience in donor relations and working with donors
• Experience in grantmaking/program management or significant non-profit experience; foundation experience preferred
• Knowledge of, and experience with, Charlottesville area social services
• Excellent communication, organizational, planning, writing, analytical, and managerial skills
• Ability to work in a small office environment and to undertake multiple tasks and priorities
• High degree of personal and professional integrity and commitment to philanthropy; ability to creatively interact with, and provide support to, Foundation donors
