Position Description

The Assistant Technical Director serves as primary support to the Technical Director and serves as the company’s Master Electrician.
Hours: 20 hours/week (including evenings) as scheduled by the Technical Director, likely Tuesday – Saturday (may include Sundays during tech weeks)

Skills Required

Essential duties:
• Support the Technical Director
• Manage and maintain the company’s electrics equipment and collaborate with the Technical Director to oversee all lighting and sound installs
• Teach, mentor, and support Live Arts volunteers
• Attend and participate in all “builds”, Tuesday evenings and Saturday full days
• Support the Technical Director with logistics, tracking and reporting expenses, and any other “heavy lifting” (possibly including actual heavy lifting) work that needs to be done
• Take utmost care with and share responsibility for the safety of our team, volunteers, students and patrons
• Assist in facility maintenance as assigned
• Attend all company opening nights and other special volunteer recognition events
• Serve as an ambassador of Live Arts within the broader arts community

Qualifications required:
• Experience in theater with a strong background in technical theater (lighting, sound, and rigging)
• Willing to collaborate with a tight-knit team in a high octane/high stress environment
• Must be passionate about theater, education, teamwork, and creating a positive and exciting workplace
